The Sustainable Packaging Alliance (SPA) helps you consider sustainability when making decisions about packaging systems.  We draw on our industry, academic and Government experience and networks, to provide tools, knowledge and training in packaging sustainability.  We help you understand where and how your decisions impact the use of resources (energy, waste, land) and production of waste and greenhouse gases.  We help you apply this knowledge to benefit society, your business and the environment.

Packaging Impact Quick Evaluation Tool

The Sustainable Packaging Alliance (SPA) launched its web-based Packaging Impact Quick Evaluation Tool , PIQET, in mid 2007. The tool was designed in conjunction with five international food and beverage companies and supported financially by Australian government agencies. This scientifically based tool enables total life cycle evaluations of packaging design and can seamlessly be integrated into day to day business decisions. The tool is also used to identify, review and prioritise actions to reduce the environmental impact of packaging.
